The connectivity from Ghaziabad to Jewar International Airport will see improvement and speed up. The Ghaziabad Jewar Regional Rapid Transit System is also known as the Ghaziabad Jewar RRTS. This is an under-construction railway line which runs through the National Capital Region (NCR), India.
This rail line is built to connect Ghaziabad to Noida International Airport in Jewar. The line will run through Noida, Greater Noida, and upcoming YEIDA City. In this article, we will cover the Ghaziabad Jewar RRTS route, station, cost, schedule, and its latest updates.

The Ghaziabad-Jewar Regional Rapid Transit System is a proposed rail corridor spanning 72.44 km in length. This rail corridor is supposed to act as a semi-high-speed regional transit system, just like the other Delhi-Meerut RRTS currently running in the form of Namo Bharat trains. This particular corridor forms the fourth corridor of the first phase of the RapidX network.
This corridor is supposed to connect three vital nodes, including the city of Ghaziabad, the Noida-Greater Noida region, and the newly developed Jewar International Airport. Once constructed, this railway corridor would enable the people to travel from Ghaziabad to Jewar International Airport within 40 to 50 minutes of time.
The National Capital Region has experienced a rapid increase in population and vehicular numbers over the past couple of decades. It has thus become difficult for people to travel within and outside Delhi, Ghaziabad, Noida, and Greater Noida.
To counter this challenge, the Indian Planning Commission established a committee in 2005 that came up with ideas on how to develop a comprehensive transport plan for the NCR region. These ideas have now been incorporated into the Integrated Transport Plan for NCR 2032.
The governments of India and Delhi formed the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) in 2013 with the task of developing and managing these rail corridors. NCRTC is an initiative by the central government and the governments of Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan, and Delhi.
One of these corridors, namely the Ghaziabad-Jewar corridor, has become very important in view of the start of construction of Noida International Airport.
The proposed RRTS line from Ghaziabad to Jewar will start from the Ghaziabad RRTS station that currently connects Delhi-Meerut RRTS and the Delhi Metro Red Line. This line then goes via Noida, Greater Noida, and YEIDA City, ending at Noida International Airport in Jewar.
The original proposal for this route split the corridor in two sections:
Segment 1: Ghaziabad to Kasna (Ecotech VI), Greater Noida – 39 km, fully elevated, with 7 RRTS stations and 11 Noida Metro stations operating on the same corridor.
Segment 2: Kasna to Noida International Airport – 33 km, partially elevated and partially underground at the airport end, with 4 RRTS stations and 1 metro station.
Overall, the full corridor (consisting of RRTS, connecting metro, and light rail stations) was planned to include 22 stations. The corridor was also supposed to connect with the Noida Metro Aqua Line, the Delhi Metro Red Line, and a future light rail network to Noida Film City.
Important information: The route is currently under consideration at the central government level. Therefore, there could be changes in the final alignment of the corridor as well.
The DPR of the NCRTC projected the total expenditure on the Ghaziabad–Jewar RRTS project to be approximately ₹20,640 crore, equivalent to approximately US$2.5 billion.
As per the funding scheme that was approved by the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) in March 2024, the distribution of funds was done as follows:
The first section of the project, from Ghaziabad to Kasna, was expected to cost about ₹13,055 crore, whereas the second section, from Kasna to the airport, was expected to cost about ₹6,988 crore.

The RRTS line from Ghaziabad to Jewar will also employ the same class of trains as are employed in the current Delhi-Meerut RRTS, called Namo Bharat. The design speed for these trains is 180 kilometres per hour, and the average speed of these trains is 160 kilometres per hour, making them the fastest trains in the region of India.
The train consists of six air-conditioned coaches: one premium coach and one exclusive women's coach. Each train carries 1,750 passengers. The coaches are made in the Indian factory of Alstom in Savli, Gujarat.
The ETCS Level 2 signalling system will be used for train movement in this corridor, which is a European train signalling technology. This signalling technology is also used in the Delhi-Meerut RRTS. There were two types of services that were planned for the corridor: fast selective stop services and ordinary all-stop services.
There has been a major development in the Ghaziabad-Jewar RRTS project during 2025 and 2026. Below are the events based on various news articles.
In other words, the project is being continued, but the route is changing. The final route, price, and time of the construction will be known after the approval of the plan by the central government.
Following the construction of the Ghaziabad Jewar RRTS, the following benefits are expected:

Overall, the Ghaziabad–Jewar RRTS is a significant transport project for the National Capital Region. The connectivity among the following places would be improved by this transport project: Ghaziabad, Noida, Greater Noida, and Noida International Airport.
Once the project gets completed, much time will be saved and less traffic will be seen on the NCR road. This project is anticipated to take only 40 to 50 minutes to reach, and it will facilitate quick development in New Noida and Yamuna Expressway regions.
This will be an advanced and speedy rail link connecting Delhi-NCR. While the initial plans and routes for the project have been clearly identified, now the project has changed its plans considerably, because the central government wants to extend it from Sarai Kale Khan in Delhi rather than from Ghaziabad.
